Martin has been a councillor with Maribyrnong City council, Yarraville ward for the last 8 years. He currently represents council on the Metropolitan Transport Forum and The Municipal Association of Victoria Arts and Culture Committee. He has previously held positions on the Heritage Advisory Committee, Leadwest, Maribyrnong Arts Committee, Roadsafe Westgate Road Safety Council, Festival Advisory Committee and Big West Festival Board. Martin has been on the Executive of the Musician’s Union since 1995. He is a member of Labor for Refugees and Labor for Marriage Equality.
